Ron Lorfel was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was a long-time ophthalmologist who began studying art in his retirement. Ron currently takes several art classes at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC). Ron received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed a medical internship at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. He also completed a residency in ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. Prior to going into private practice at Livonia Ophthalmologists, Ron was an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Air Force for two years with the rank of Major prior to joining Livonia Ophthalmologists in 1976.

When he's not painting, sketching, or sculpting, Ron enjoys spending time with his family -- his wife, two daughters and their husbands, and his five grandchildren. Ron also enjoys traveling and tinkering with the latest technology.
